3 In vector calculus, the grad symbol is the vector calculus gradient operator. It is used to represent the grad function, which takes one argument which should be a scalar-valued function and returns a vector of functions.

8 - Grad in [OpenMath|http://www.openmath.org/cd/veccalc1.xhtml#grad] and in [MathML|http://www.w3.org/TR/MathML3/chapter4.html#contm.grad]
9 - Grad also is described in [MathWord|http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Gradient.html] and in [Wikipedia|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gradient]

17 h4. English !gradient1-en.png|align=right!
18 In the English book [Mathematical Constant|Census.Bibliography#MathematicalConstants] in page 219 we find that the gradient of {html}\\(f\\){html} is donated in the example on the right.
19 [Find the example in google books link |http://books.google.com/books?id=Pl5I2ZSI6uAC&lpg=PA28&dq=Euler%E2%80%93Mascheroni%20constant&pg=PA219#v=onepage&q=Gradient&f=false]

23 h4. German !gradient1-de.png|align=right!
24 We find in the example on the right that the german book [Rechenmethoden der Physik|Census.Bibliography#MathematischerBegleiterzurExperimentalphysik] represents the gradient in page 206
25 and it is called 'Gradient' in German context.
26 [Go to the example in google books link|http://books.google.com/books?id=dj_Hyy3Uvt8C&lpg=PA195&dq=Euler-Mascheroni-Konstante&pg=PA206#v=onepage&q&f=false]

30 h4. Spanish !gradient1-sp.png|align=right!
31 The Spanish book [Matemática discreta|Census.Bibliography#matematicaDiscreta-SpanishEdition] shows the gradient in page 77 and it is called 'Gradiente' in Spanish context.

33
34 !gradient2_sp.png|align=right! As we see on the right another example represents the gradient function in Spanish context.
